◎ Herbs for hoarse voice
A nine-year old girl had hoarse voice due to forceful speaking for long time. She was diagnosed by an ENT specialist with vocal cord nodules, muscle tension dysphonia, and arytenoid granuloma on 30 May 2016. The patient was under the ENT specialist's instruction to receive speech therapy for several times in order to improve the way of speaking. This patient began taking Chinese herbal granules everyday from 14 June 2016. In another visit on 4 July 2016, the ENT specialist through auscultation said the whole condition improved by 50%. Therefore the patient continued taking the Chinese herbal granules until 19 July 2017. In the visit on 10 October 2016, the ENT specialist used nasopharyngoscopy for examination and found there was no further vocal nodule. Also, the arytenoid granuloma was found resolved.
Comment: In this case, the Chinese medicine treatments are both inexpensive and effective. In modern society, Chinese medicine may still shows an advantage.
